In 2004, I was recognized by Habitat for Humanity of Wake County as an Outstanding Legal Services Volunteer. I have been a member of the Joint Forms Committee of the Bar and NC Association of Realtors since 2007. Until this year, I served as a long-time board member and Board Chairman of CASA, a non-profit housing developer whose mission is to provide affordable housing to persons with disabilities. I am counsel to a number of for-profit and non-profit developers, including Evergreen Construction Co., Spectrum Homes, Inc., Marlowe and Moye, LLC, and Builders of Hope, Inc. During my early legal career, I had many successes as a litigator, including a reversal in the Court of Appeals that led to my trying the case to a jury which resulted in my client having a judgment lien against Raleigh's Crabtree Valley Mall. After the trial, I received a letter of commendation from a juror (one of my proudest moments as a lawyer). In 1992, I was elected President of the Raleigh Country Club after two years as a director. Under my leadership, this private club formally adopted a race-neutral policy toward membership.
In 2000, I began managing planned communities and homeowners' associations as part of my law practice. That practice, which started with two clients, led to creation of Kohn-Ell Association Management Services, LLC, a management company in which I remain a principal owner, and which now serves more than 150 associations in the Triangle. From 2002-05, I served on the City of Raleigh Housing Appeals Board.
I now serve on the North Carolina Land Records Task Force and am a member of the Real Property Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.I am a Raleigh native and graduate of Duke University (A.B. English, 1977), where I played JV basketball, served as rush chairman for my fraternity, and was inducted into the Old Trinity Club. In 1976, I successfully completed USMC Officer Candidate School. My law degree is from Washington University in St. Louis (1980) which was awarded after attending third-year classes at UNC-Chapel Hill as a visiting student.
My wife, Joyce, and I have two sons, Josh (14) and Zach (12), who are fourth generation Raleighites, and we have made our home at 1140 Harp Street, Village at Pilot Mill, Raleigh, NC 27604, since 2002. Prior to co-founding Broslavsky & Weinman, I was a senior associate at Rutan & Tucker, one of the largest law firms in Orange County. I have extensive experience in a wide range of litigation matters, and has successfully worked on cases ranging from multi-million dollar lawsuits to small private actions. I have intimate knowledge of various laws designed to protect consumers, individuals and small businesses, including California Unfair Competition Law and its counterparts in other states, California False Advertising Act, California Consumer Legal Remedies Act, and Truth in Lending Act. I have known Zack for four years, and in this time he has helped me many times with many different issues. He is attentive each and every time he helps me.
He is extremely responsive, caring, knowledgeable, and helpful. He worked tirelessly on my case, and in most cases he answered my concerns right away. He is also the kindest attorney I have ever known, and he is always available for me to reach out to.
He has never disappointed me, not even once. He pretty much saved me from a whole lot of trouble, and I sincerely feel very much indebted to him. All in all, if you are looking for an attorney who truly cares about his clients and gets the job done, he is your man. Thanks again Zack! Zack fought hard for my case, he was knowledgeable, assertive to the other party, and very easy to work with.
Trustworthy and experienced. Anytime I had any questions, he was always an email or phone call away. He was always great at replying back to all my questions and concerns. I recommend this lawyer to fight for you. I had several lawyers tell me that I didn't have a case because I was employed for only two weeks or didn't have enough evidence to support my case. This lawyer along with his partner, Johnathan, were very confident and knowledgeable in their field of law. During my initial meeting with them, they told me I had a case and that they would help me.
They won my case for me for great results! It's the best feeling to have a lawyer who will do anything and everything to help you defeat and win your case. × Avvo RatingOur Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included ontheir profile in addition to the information we collect from statebar associations and other organizations that license legalprofessionals.
